Is Yahoo quietly testing a contextual advertising program for blogs and small publishers, grooming a rival for Google Adsense? The Online Marketing Blog points to a story on Waxy.org that suggests this may be the case.
Contextual ads were spotted in the blog of Ken Rudman, a product manager at Overture. The Javascript underlying the ad IFrame is hosted on Overture’s server and the doman name refers to “ypn” - which could be an acronym of some sort for the ad program.
It’s still in the speculative stages, but there’s some interesting discussion going on in the comments section.
