Unable to pinpoint precise locations on the olde-timey diesel-powered MTA Subway Map and frustrated by the sometimes there, sometimes not there nature of the subway information on CitySearch, a coworker turned me on to a better way to get me to brunch on time.

It’s called HopStop.com, and it offers a great way to plan your public transportation around the city. Select subway, walking, bus, or any hybrid of the three and get destination-to-destination directions at the click of a mouse. Like MapQuest in its early days (and some would argue still today), HopStop’s still got a few kinks to work out. It got me lost the other day in the West Village, but luckily there were 8 million and 1 police officers around to help me find my way (such a high crime neighborhood and all, you know).

On another rhyming name note, check out JotSpot, a cool Web collaboration tool built around Wiki with a number of useful applications for corporate intranets, document sharing, bug tracking, and the like. See what the insiders have to say on the company blog and

their new VP of Products, Kenneth Norton (formerly of Yahoo! Search). Incidentally, Norton’s got a new blog, you can add him here.

SubwayInfo.com has been providing door-to-door subway directions to New York City riders for over three years. Have you ever tried them?
