Findory wants you to to take this personally - a new ad engine launched today that combines user data with Google’s ad network to produce personalized ad matches more relevant than what Google’s page reading algorithms spit out.
Is this a full-scale integration of Findory’s user data and Google AdSense? Not quite. According to Findory:
“This early version is built on top of Google AdSense, but these are not normal AdSense ads. They are not targeted merely to the content of the page, but to the individual behavior of the reader.”
As Nathan Weinberg points out, the use of “built on” is interesting, and the folks at Findory later clarify that most of the work happens on Findory’s end.
This is similar to what we talked about a few months ago, but with Ask Jeeves and Bloglines instead of Findory/Google.
Here’s a quick snip:
“People are speculating whether Jeeves will make good on this huge personalization opportunity. They could do so by channeling the vast store of user data to improve the targeting of both search results and ads. This could give them a leg up in the search marketing/behavioral targeting battle, as well as a killer personalization platform.”
