Andy Beal’s Blogvangelism Launches

Written By Reprise Media | June 3, 2005 | Share This |

Though the name initially struck us as a little too corporate-speak, Andy Beal’s new blog has some very real and interesting things to say.

It’s called Blogvangelism and it’s mission is to help you “keep up to date with the latest developments on blogs, syndication and RSS.” This is Beal’s second blog, he currently devotes a portion of his time to Search Engine Lowdown, a search news and opinion blog.

Check out Beal’s announcement, in which he wonders whether or not to send out a press release to spread the word.

You might say we’re biased, since we sent out our own release last January announcing the relaunch of our blog, but we do think a press release is worth investigating. You can shout it out all you want in the blogosphere, but it’s kind of like preaching to the choir.

This is particularly true if your blog is part of another effort, be it a company, consulting business, etc. There may be many who are interested in what you have to say but don’t regularly troll for new blogs. A press release is just one way to tap into that audience.

Some good ideas. I’m a big believer in the power of a press release.

Blogvangelism is not currently being utilized for a commercial reason (ie. we have no plans to make money from it), so not sure if we have a commercial reason to send a press release. :-)

Andy, I’d say do it anyway. Press releases aren’t for purely commercial reasons. They’re an awareness mechanism - at present, one of many (blogs are another one). Reporters might write about you from a number of non-commercial angles…and maybe you’d get some traffic due to their items. That’s assuming you want that kind of traffic. But there’s a lot of folks who could benefit from Blogevangelism who aren’t really hip to the blogsphere yet…
