Become.com Launches Dynamic Search Suggestions/Crossword Tool

Become.com founder/CEO Michael Yang didn’t make mention of it when we talked to him last month, but the company is debuting a new feature this week - dynamic search term suggestions that help users refine their queries before they even start their search.

It’s pretty easy to try, just start typing in your search term and watch a list of one-offs automatically appear. One of the participants in the discussion over on Threadwatch hints that this could make a great keyword research tool. We’re thinking it could be used to solve crossword puzzles - what’s a word that starts with g-o-u? or generate baby names - kimberly, kimi, or kimmie?

However you use it, it’s pretty cool and its ability to give results that pick up the word within other phrases (ryan= ryan adams plus meg ryan) is very useful. Wonder if any of the other engines will copy it?
