CNET has just launched Blogma, a portal dedicated to the technology issues generating the most buzz in the blogosphere on any any given day.
The day’s most popular topics will be summarized on Blogma along with blog commentary and links to related sites. Real-time news will also be included as well as an “Esoteric Post of the Day” that promises to be be amusing, edifying, or both.
It’s a sound idea, but as the crowd on Threadwatch points out, it’s a little wonky in execution.
The RSS feeds are difficult to find, the offsite links all pass through redirects and the blog authors aren’t clearly defined (do they work for CNET? what beat do they cover? where are their other articles? who’s the Blogma editor in chief?).
It’s also a little muddy as to which content is exclusive to CNET and which is pulled from other blogs - the fact that 90% of page text is bolded or has some other has some other type of fancy formatting probably something to do with it. Some of the links are broken and it’s a pain to look at the comments (each one requires a new page view).
All that said, I’m adding it to my feeds anyway. I just like to complain.
