Flickr Testing Yahoo and Google Contextual Ads?

Photo sharing service Flickr is testing Google AdSense ads and Yahoo Contextual ads and Loren Baker of Search Engine Journal has the screenshots to prove it.
As many of you know, Yahoo acquired Flickr late last March, so it seems a little odd that they’re running Google ads on this property.
Editor Baker wonders if Yahoo is running some sort of head-to-head comparison of the two services:
“Is Yahoo testing its ad targeting functionality on Flickr? Is it comparing revenue and click thru percentage between Google AdSense and ‘Ads by Yahoo!’?”
We’re also wondering as well. Baker says the Google ads showed more relevant results than the Yahoo ones, and a test on the keyword “DisneyWorld” showed similar results for SearchViews. The AdSense ads were for vacation packages and hotels, whereas the Yahoo ads were for photo printing services and digital camera. Let’s hope this is just some sort of glitch.
On a related note, interesting CNET story on how camera phones coupled with online photo services are changing how we view national news.

I haven’t seen any ads in Flickr.
Well, they were running the ads about a year ago, and Flickr’s been through at least one overhaul since then. The trial balloon for the AdSense ads probably didn’t hold up.
