Why Homestar Runner is Not Running Ads

As if you needed another reason to love Homestar Runner: a post on the AdFreak blog wonders why you never see ads on the site.
Citing an interview in Giant magazine, AdFreak goes on to share the words of co-creator Mike Chapman:
“There are no ads. People tell us all the time that they appreciate that it’s a free site and they don’t need to … worry about pop-ups or junk e-mail or getting a subscription … and although we do sell stuff, we try not to bombard you with it.”
All well and good, provided you can sell enough schlock (shirts, posters, toys, etc.) to keep your site alive and free from blinking banners. Luckily, that’s not a problem for these guys.
