Ask Jeeves has released a series of upgrades to their Smart Answers platform and not to sound like a teenage girl or anything, but OMG, they’re SUPERCOOL! No, seriously.
Smart Answers was one of the Ask Jeeves innovations discussed when we interviewed Jeeves exec Jim Lanzone last April. They’re basically contextual search units that provide direct access to relevant links and information.
Jeeves Knowledge Engineering Manager Steve Orr has this fun entry on the Jeeves blog which announces the new features, but here’s a little less roundabout rundown of what’s now available:
- World Nations: Quick Facts
- US States: Quick Facts
- Mammals: (aka not humans)
- Popular TV Shows information
- Famous People: Music profiles
- Video Games: All major titles plus platform
- NASCAR: Races & Drivers
- ISBN Search
- Periodic Table of Elements
- US Area Code lookup
- Planets: Quick Facts
- Special Search Toolbar feature support
Gary Price of Search Engine Watch has more.
