Google Earth Rankles South Korea Military Brass

Lots of international search news this week. This AP story has the South Korean government taking Google to task over the satellite photos that its Google Earth service provides.

South Korean military specialists say the Google Earth images of the presidential Blue House and various military bases leave the country vulnerable to outside threats and plan to discuss their concerns with US authorities.

South Korea isn’t the only country raising concerns over the images. Earlier this month Australia asked Google to remove images of a nuclear reactor but later dropped the request.

The Register has the money shots so you can take a look for yourself and decide whether or not they pose a reasonable threat.

On a related note, Google Earth Hacks has some Katrina images as does this page on Flickr.
