Few would argue that the supersizing of our Inboxes has been a bad thing. Email storage limits have gone through the roof as Google, Yahoo, Microsoft and others compete for audience share. Best of all, these innovations have come at no additional cost to the consumer.
However, there’s a downside to all that extra space. For many, the Inbox has become an inpenetrable abyss where it’s difficult to find what you need, when you need it.
Yesterday Yahoo announced a number of email search improvements which will be available to select users starting today, with a gradual roll-out to all Yahoo Mail users over the coming months.
New features include:
- Attachment search
- Dynamic search refinement by sender, folder, attachment, message status and date
- Photo view & attachment view
For a full description of each feature, check out this post in the Yahoo Search Blog, penned by Drew Garcia, Senior Product Manager of Yahoo Mail.
This is a great upgrade. The ability to pull up all the photos in my Inbox with the single click of a mouse is awesome and this will no doubt put Yahoo in a better position to compete against Gmail, long lauded by the tech community for its search capabilities.
