Rumors. We love ‘em over here at SearchViews. Here are two to kick off your work week:
Classified Wars: Part XXXIII Reuters news service is reporting that Google, Yahoo and eBay are among the companies interested in buying Trader Classified Media, an Amsterdam-based publisher of 78 print guides and 56 web sites containing classified ads in 22 countries. None of the companies are commenting on the deal, though with eBay on a classifieds buying spree (Kijiji anyone?) and Yahoo acquiring a 40% stake in eBay competitor Alibaba it’ll be interesting to see how all this plays out.
Google Launching an IM Service on Wednesday? Rafat over at PaidContent thinks so. He bases his speculation on a NY Times piece by John Markoff that says Google plans to unveil a “communications tool” mid-week to piggyback on the Google Sidebar launch. Markoff also makes mention of a Google phone (possibly brought about by the Google/Android acquisition) and a $100 wireless laptop. Read the full article here.
