There’s no business like the search business, and Jupiter Research should know. The firm recently released its US Online Advertising Forecast, 2005 to 2010 in which it posits a bright future for the online advertising market and paid search in particular.
A few quick stats:
- Sales will reach $18.9 billion by 2010, up from $9.3 billion at the end of 2004
- Search engine marketing is expected to increase at a compound annual growth rate of 12%, with display ads at 7%
- Classified advertising in general is expected to grow to a revenue of $4.1 billion by 2010
David Card, Research Director at Jupiter had this to say:
“Publishers are in a good position right now. Not only can they monetize their nonpremium inventory, but they can strategically choose the network providers they feel can generate the most yield from that inventory.”
We’ll say.
