Google Launches Blog Search

Google has launched a blog search service. It’s called (oddly enough) “Google Blog Search” and is available in beta form here.
What makes Google’s blog search different than that of its competitors is its default return of blog search results by relevancy, with the option to also sort results by date. Most other blog search services rely on date only.
As Charlene Li puts it, this feature may be the “secret sauce to Google’s search success.” Google has always been a leader in determining relevancy and applying its influence to their products, and there’s no reason to think their blog search won’t follow that same trend. If it does, then the competition will have very real reason to worry.
I gave it a few test spins and it seems like it’s really fast. There are no ads right now, which is nice (though that’ll change) and you can get an RSS feed for any search. Did I mention it’s fast? No, really.
Here’s a nice post from the folks at SixApart.
