It’s An Internet of Many Moods

Ever wonder what mood the Internet is in?
Yea, me neither. But this tool called the Moodgrapher is worth a look anyway.
It uses data from the popular teen angst blog site LiveJournal to create graphical representations of the world wide web’s collective mental state.
Check it out in action.
While the user interface leaves a little something to be desired, it is fun to play around. A search for the mood ‘working’ will show the number of users reporting that mood going up on the weekdays and down on the weekends. The mood ‘flirty’ looks like it went down in the days shortly after the Katrina disaster and right now the hot mood of the moment is ‘groggy.’ Let’s hope that one changes soon. The weekend is upon us, people.
