Rumor #1: Google may be buying Reuters. There’s some press speculation that the search giant may be using part of its considerable holdings to acquire the online news service. Reuters stock is up today as a result, but neither firm is commenting. I don’t know about you guys, but this one sounds a little far-fetched to me.
Rumor #2: eBay is in talks to acquire Skype. Shares of the online auction company are down following reports like this one that the firm is in talks to buy online telephone company Skype. Analysts are nervous that the acquisition will take eBay too far outside its core line of business but some are saying that it makes sense for the company to diversify revenue streams. Guess we’ll soon see what’s what…
