The Ambulance Unplugged

The whine of an ambulance siren will soon be synonymous with Wi-Fi if innovations in mobile networking continue at their current pace.
The ambulance service provider American Medical Response recently debuted a hi-tech emergency vehicle that allows paramedics to link laptops and PDAs to a central hub. They can then do things like download patient information and send patient data remotely.
The current alternative is paper records that have to be transcribed in the back of the ambulance or at the hospital.
Not exactly comforting to think that most schoolkids and celebutantes are toting around better technology, right?)
