TiVo junkies will now be able to program their DVR boxes from their desktops thanks to the recent announcement of a deal between Yahoo and TiVo.

The service will allow individuals to use the information on the Yahoo TV site to record TV programs and events on their TiVos. Eventually the service will include additional content such as photos, traffic information and weather forecasts.

Read the press release now.

It’s long been rumored that TiVo will align itself with a major search engine. SearchViews wrote about it last spring though it was still pretty hazy as to who/what/where/how or when.

Looks like TiVo is taking the integration approach rather than opting for a buyout. Nick W of Threadwatch has additional commentary.
