What Uncle Sam wants, Uncle Sam gets, including your Internet search records.
The federal government recently asked a judge to order Google to hand over the search records of a number of individuals under investigation for violations of the Child Online Protection Act, a 1998 law aimed at protecting minors from harmful sexual material on the Internet.
Google initially balked at handing over the records, saying doing so would violate the privacy of its users and reveal proprietary data secrets.
The government is firing back by saying that a number of other engines, including MSN are turning over the records without resistance.
