Google Launches Business Gmail Beta

Its stock may be down but its ambitions are higher than ever.
Google is making news with the beta test of a program that will offer its Gmail services as an enterprise hosted email solution. For those of you not fluent in business BS, this means that the search engine is considering making Gmail available to businesses as well as individual consumers.

Of course this isn’t the first time Google has tricked out a consumer service for use in an organization. The launch of the Google Mini happened right around this time a year ago. There’s also the Google desktop search for business as well as a bunch of other stuff we won’t go into right now.
This is a good one to watch as it develops. Could open up a whole new user base for Google, particularly in terms of demographic data. The Official Google Blog has more details on the beta test and what it has to do with the city of San Jose.
