Americans may be a little dim-witted when it comes to some decisions, but there’s one area where they seem to know what they’re doing - on paper, at least.
A recent University of Connecticut telephone poll reveals that over half of Americans are against search engines permanently storing user behavior.
The poll of over 800 adults says that an even higher percentage is against the government looking into the search behavior of ordinary citizens and only 5% of respondents were “extremely confident” that their search activities will remain private.
The survey was conducted in the wake of stories like these of the federal government leaning on Google, Yahoo and others for citizen search records.
