Do you ever have the need to update your blog on the go? Maybe you’ve just taken a photo of a celebrity with your cell phone at a bar but couldn’t wait to get home to upload it online. Worry no more! Sony Ericsson and Google have teamed up to give you the ability to blog on the fly using your mobile phone.

Sony Ericsson plans to release three phones (K610, K800 and K790) integrating built-in cameras, 3G data connections, MP3 players, Google Blogger and Search functions in Q2 2006.

Although this is the first time the industry’s seen a mobile phone with a pre-loaded blog application tightly merged with a camera, this is not the first time a search engine’s partnered up with a cell phone company. Google and Blackberry have recently collaborated on a mobile version of Google Local and Google Talk. And Google and Vodaphone have allied to offer Google Search on Vodaphone’s high speed network.

Yahoo’s also been working hard at extending its services to the mobile community. In addition to a partnership with AT&T and Cingular, Yahoo has also launched Yahoo! Go, and last month joined the Symbian Platinum Program at the 3GSM World Congress; Yahoo’s internet services are now closely linked with smartphones using the popular Symbian open operating system.

The lines between PCs and mobile phones are blurring…

    What about Nokia’s LifeBlog?

To my knowledge, Nokia’s LifeBlog software is meant to be downloaded and installed by users of selected phones. They are not pre-packaged with the said phones. In this case, Sony Ericsson will ship these three phones with the blogger software already installed.

I know there are probably lots of third party software for smartphones such as the Treo for mobile publishing, but I don’t believe any of them are pre-installed with the phones.
