Spring is a time for everything to begin anew (also to eat these things but we’ll get to that later).
Celebrate the season with two new tech companies to watch for:
The first is Vast, a new search engine startup that crawls classified listings by vertical space. From the site’s FAQ Page:
“We [Vast] currently offer the largest database of cars and jobs, and one of the largest databases of people profiles on the entire Internet…The Vast API is available, free and unlimited, for commercial and non-commercial use…Think of it as Froogle for classifieds, but with an open interface for partner sites and developers.”
They forgot to mention the world’s most annoying and useless About Us Page. Oh well, nobody’s perfect.
The company, who paid $25 grand for its domain name one year ago, says its service is most useful for those interested in drilling down through classifieds to get at a very narrow niche. More here in CNET News.
The second company was started by a 17 year old named Kristopher Tate. Zoomr is a photo sharing community that’s being likened to “Flickr on steroids” for its ability to associate rich metadata with photos. TechCrunch has a write-up well worth reading (say that three times fast).
