Economic times may be shaky, but one company continues to enjoy smooth sailing - job and resume search site Monster.com.
Consider the following:
- The number of resumes on Monster grows by 50,000 each day.
- Revenue has shot up for the last three years, going from $680 million in 2003 to $987 million in 2005.
- International business is booming - 46% growth year-over-year. Monster says it has the lion’s share of European traffic.
- Monster is in a sweet spot between competitors Google and Yahoo, according to this article on the Internet Stock Blog: “One…has money and traffic, the other class is desperate.”
Search Engine Journal asks the question: Does anyone really search for jobs in print papers anymore? and we have to agree with the author’s assertion of “No”. Have you seen the jobs section of any major metropolitan publication lately? You can practically see through it, it’s so thin.
In related news, Monster founder Jeff Taylor has announced the backing of a new venture, a media company for oldsters called Eons.
In less related news, a “monster bunny rabbit” has been ravaging gardens in England.
