Since we were in the neighborhood, we thought we’d drop by and share some news with a distinctly local flavor.
But can it knock a couple bucks off this busted lamp? Search Engine Journal says that local classifieds site Oodle came out with a feature yesterday to help bargain hunters find garage sales - and here we thought driving around aimlessly at 7 miles an hour was half the fun! It’s a daily email alert drawn from what Oodle says is over 15,000 weekly listings, indexed from sources like the PennySaver. Users can specify a radius of between 5 and 50 miles away, then plot sale locations on a map. Sign up for it here.
We’re ‘burbs, we’re nationwide According to ClickZ, the Suburban Newspapers of America (SNA) are launching an online publisher ad network to attract national advertisers - with the eventual goal of luring more local advertisers online. The trade association represents over 2,000 Canadian and US papers, 370 of which will be represented on the network; their 152 websites get 40 million monthly pageviews. SNA wants to go live with the ad network June 1, initially offering 50 cent cost-per-thousand run-of-network placements to up to six advertisers on a monthly basis.

Road maps are already up - even if driving directions and street searches aren’t quite working yet.
