A: If you guessed “senior citizens” then give yourself a hand. Then pipe down. Your grandpa’s trying to rest.
A recent story in The New York Times says that seniors have been making a significant impact on the online economy. Why? Well, they’re got more disposable cash and the time on their hands to spend it. Only problem? Not all marketers are helping them get over that initial buying hump.
An excerpt:
“‘This group has been kind of overlooked until now,’ said Heather Dougherty, an analyst with Nielsen/NetRatings, an online consultancy…Dougherty said a recent Nielsen survey found that 27.4 million people age 55 and older bought something online in the last six months, compared with about 26 million a year ago. By contrast, the overall number of adults who bought something online in the last year actually dropped, to 107.4 million from 112 million.”

Also making senior news is former Golden Girl Rue McClanahan who just had a $3.75 million dollar lawsuit against her dropped. Congrats Rue, from all of us SearchViews.
What’s that? You want one more Golden Girls item?! OK, fine.
