SES Latino Conference Bears Sweet Yahoo! Fruit

SES Latino 2006, a conference aimed exclusively at the online Latino market, wrapped its inaugural two-day session yesterday, going a ways toward correcting the heretofore inexplicable neglect of a decidedly underserved constituency. Barry Schwartz dutifully covered the event; check here for an SE Roundtable wrap-up that collects eight thorough posts.

Underscoring SES Latino’s relevance and flying in fast on its heels is an exclusive search distribution deal between Yahoo! and the Hispanic Digital Network (HDN). According to ClickZ, Yahoo! will pipe in web search and paid search ads to HDN’s 70 some-odd sites, many of which have been displaying Google’s ads. Yahoo!’s listings will appear in either English or Spanish, matching the language used in the search term.

A Yahoo! spokesperson said that the HDN partnership is intended to complement an earlier Yahoo! accord with Spanish language TV net Telemundo, which provides Y! with “12.8 million Hispanic visitors per month,” according to comScore’s numbers. HDN is also a bastion of old media, as it primarily works with online versions of Spanish language newspapers and the like; its audience reportedly totals 14 million.
