Thursday’s Google-Heavy Links

Written By Reprise Media | July 13, 2006 | Share This |

thursday google heavy links.JPG

Our links are top-loaded today with quick hits from Google, everyone’s favorite search engine/verb/font of internet news. Deep breath, now begin:

“This one goes out to all you mongers out there” First up, Radio AdWords rumor and speculation! Way back in January, Google went out and picked up dMarc Broadcasting, a company specializing in hooking up advertisers with radio stations. The move spurred notions of an auction-driven Google radio ad network.

It’s been pretty quiet since then, but here comes the TechToolBlog with news of an AdWords survey that might herald the approach of Google Radio (or whatever it’ll be called). Writes TechTool’s Tim, “The last time I got a Google survey, it was about print advertisement, 2 weeks later they revealed it in beta form.” One of the questions reportedly deals with the notion of Google acting as middleman between advertisers and radio “production talent.” Is the world ready for a Google talent agency? (via Loren Baker)

Makes NoSense Wired has a story today that really makes you feel for the little guy. AdSense Consulting - a tiny “marketing and design” firm that predates Google itself, much less the engine’s more recent, identically spelled contextual product - is up to its ears in unintended phone calls and spam email. Alexis Garrett, an AdSense consulting co-founder, initially thought that sharing a name with an offering from the more famous company might lead to an uptick in business. Instead, she’s been overwhelmed with folks seeking Google AdSense customer support. The company’s website, adsense.com (registered in 1996), probably shoulders part of the blame. That’s why it’s been sold (not, incidentally, to Google); new ownership takes over in September.

It’s “The Hindenburg” meets “The Right Stuff” Inflatable technology will now have a chance to fail spectacularly in orbit. The AP reports that Budget Suites magnate Robert Bigelow is spearheading an effort to build a private space station by 2015, constructed completely out of inflatable modules. The first of these, named “Genesis I,” blasted into space aboard a Russian rocket yesterday, where it will remain for five years while its durability is tested. Bigelow has sunk $500 million into the project, which you might call Budget Space. Says Bigelow, “I wouldn’t be the least bit surprised if we have a number of different systems fail.” Luckily, there’s nobody inside this one.

Well, Google stand is very apparent from its wicked intentions. Google’s sole aim is to earn revenue with relevancy lost in the graveyard.

I have found a site http://www.organicspam.com that has impressed me with its motive and content. They have openly raised sword against Google. Will have to say that this is definitely a bold move

Not sure what you mean by “relevancy lost in the graveyard,” but I don’t think you can call Google’s intentions “wicked.” Self-serving, yes. There’s no doubt that Google’s in business to make money.
