The woes continue for Google’s troubled Checkout service, as denim Magnate Levi’s has opted to turn and show Big G its derriere a few days after encountering a “particular issue.” Market Watch speculates that the “issue” concerns Checkout’s much-derided order-processing delays (hat tip to Threadwatch).
Checkout’s often sluggish response is due, in part, to a determined effort to sniff out fraud, just about as noble a cause for lag time as we can think of. But many folks have found such long waits (and elusive customer service) irritating, and the fact that they’re well-intentioned is of little comfort to some.
Levi’s hasn’t banished Checkout from its entire business; khaki enthusiasts and business casual fashionistas can still use the service to buy the company’s Dockers online. The Market Watch story rates a return to Checkout “likely” for levi.com, but only after Google rolls out an update sometime in the coming weeks. Barring that, they can always try the free branded tchotchky-approach, used to pacify at least one angry blogger. In that case, though, Google might need a bigger box of swag.
