Yahoo Releases Widgets 4

Widgets 4, Yahoo’s desktop widgets application, is now available for download. Some improved capablities in this version of Widgets include: a Widget Dock, new widgets, improved performance, smarter developer tools, and automatic updates. One of the most popular new items is a Flickr Widget that lets Flickr users stream photos directly to the desktop. As the Yahoo Widget Blog writes,
“I can personally attest that the manner in which it allows you to browse the Interestingness category is just plain awesome. This is by far the most full-featured Widget we’ve ever created. The Flickr Widget is just one example of what this latest Konfabulator engine can do, as well as the direction we are heading.”
TechCrunch notes that Yahoo’s desktop widgets can’t yet be added to My Yahoo pages - something that both Microsoft and Google allow. No less, initial reviews have been positive.
