Considering the whirlwind of acquisitions, earnings calls, makeovers and media developments that have graced headlines for the past two weeks, we were due for a tech news lull. I think Techmeme has hit a new low, however, now that the top story is a tit-for-tat blog-off between Wired Magazine and Jason Calacanis. If you, like me, are bored to tears by this ridiculous backstory, here’re some actually good posts from the search industry:
- SEO Roundtable spots a Webmaster World thread reporting that 80% of Blogs are Now Stuffed with Offensive Content.
- John Carroll offers “a developers view” of the $3 Windows product that Microsoft plans to sell in developing nations.
- Inside Google pulls together a bizarre collection of user-generated readings of the plays written by Virginia Tech killer Cho Seung-Hui. The videos are yet another chapter of the intimate citizen involvement that has driven media coverage around this story.
- AdAge released their 2007 Digital Fact Pack.
- BusinessWeek reports that Time Warner Cable customers will soon have access to free wifi hotspots.
- Last but not least, MediaPost’s Search Insider writes about One Trend That Explains All Others: “Integrated Asset Digitization”. Though IAD will definitely not be the web’s next buzz word, it does roll up a number of important industry trends into a more complete idea.
