Tonight, search professionals from around the globe will descend on Manhattan for the annual Search Engine Strategies conference in New York. SES NY kicks off tomorrow morning at 9 am and will continue through the week until Friday.
Veterans may notice two new themes shaping up for this year’s conference: Dealing with large-scale SEM, and search beyond the search engines. New sessions like, “In House: Big SEO”, “Ad Agencies: Understanding the Search Difference” and “Outsourcing Anonymous: Why to Admit you Hired an SEM Firm (or Not)” seem tailored to the growing audience of large-budget marketers interested in either building an in-house search team or outsourcing to an SEM agency. Sessions like, “Video Search Optimization”, “SEO Through Blogs & Feeds”, and “Social Search Overview”, in the meantime, reflect the growing importance of new media in search.
Equally important (and arguably more popular) than the 70+ sessions will be the litany of SES parties and networking events taking place around the city. The Internet Marketers of New York are kicking off the party schedule with a 3 hour open bar charity event tonight at Town Tavern (7 - 10 pm, $40 at the door towards the Ronald McDonald House Charity). Search Engine Watch has a forum thread detailing the full “official party schedule“.
For the rest of this week, Searchviews will be exclusively blogging about SES. See you there!
