Trouble at Yahoo!

Today Wenda Harris Millard, Yahoo’s Chief Sales Officer in the US, announced her resignation from Yahoo. Millard is leaving for a newly created position as President of Media for Martha Stewart Living Omnimedia Inc.
Millard’s resignation comes at a time when Yahoo is attempting to reorganize its base of operations to catch up to market leader, Google. Specifically, Yahoo is reshuffling both the helm of its corporate office, with co-founder Jerry Yang replacing Terry Semel as chief executive, and streamlining its advertising departments in the U.S. with the release of Panama.
Although it can be argued that Yahoo’s reorganization is a signal of progress, Millard’s resignation reveals resonant dissatisfaction within Yahoo’s upper management — even after their infamous “Peanut Butter” rally. In an industry with growing competition and a limited applicant pool, Yahoo can ill afford more HR losses. As more media companies like Martha Stewart move online, expect exec-level turnover to become a growing problem for the search engines.

Come on now Searchviews! A dinosaur is pushed out and you call it trouble? Here is someone who historically thumbed her nose at the search world and you call it bad that she’s out? Take off your Big G blinders and realize that their assets will prevail and pushing an old world media exec out the door is a blessing not a curse. In terms of MSOM, they are not moving online they’ve been in the game for over 10 years now…
I think the problem started late last night or early this morning, and I can’t send or receive emails from my Yahoo account. Anyone else?
