Gphone Rumors: Sprint, Verizon, T-Mobile?

The Wall Street Journal today reported that Google is in talks with Sprint, Verizon and other mobile providers to convince them to run the search giant’s anticipated Gphone mobile operating system on their phones. From the WSJ:
Within two weeks, Google is expected to announce new software and services that handset makers could use to build customized Google-powered phones. The company needs wireless operators to sign on to the project in order to get its mobile devices in front of consumers by the middle of next year.
The WSJ thinks Sprint’s the more likely match for Google, especially considering that Verizon and Google quite recently squabbled over the 700 mHz spectrum auction, and TechCrunch agrees:
Google already competes (and cooperates) with some of these carriers. It recently fought with Verizon, for instance, over the rules of the upcoming 700 Mhz wireless spectrum auctions, while it is partnering with Sprint on its upcoming Wimax network. The only carrier not mentioned is AT&T, which carries the iPhone.
Thanks in part to these anticipated mobile developments, Google’s stock shot just past $700 today and the company is now the fifth biggest in the United States. Happy Halloween, Google.

Google stock has increased, eh?
I have no doubts that after the complete hash that they have made of the recent Parerank changes their stock will go down. At least I hope so. Their pagerank allocation is, quite simply, a complete joke. I have remove the Google link from my site and removed their toolbar; I now use Yahoo and MSN. I suggest that the hundreds of thousands of other webmasters who have been treated like dirt do the same. I will never ever click on a google ad; again I hope others do the same - hit Google where it hurts - dollars.
Dang if I can keep up w/Google. World domination anyone?
