It’s fitting that in the same week that Reprise Media Managing Partner Josh Stylman was interviewed on BlogTalkRadio about careers in search marketing we are also profiling Robert Yuen, Reprise Media’s HR Generalist and Recruiter.
Where are you From? Originally born and raised in a small city within Los Angeles, CA.
Favorite Website? That’s pretty tough… I’m going to have to go with either MSNBC.com (my favorite daily news source), or CNET.com (I’m all about electronics).
Great moments in Reprise History? I’d say any event that brings our entire company together like the offsite we had a few months ago, or the first company holiday party I attended.
Which Search Engine Would You Be and Why? I think I’d be Google… simply for the reason that my grandpa called me a “yahoo” quite often growing up! Plus it seems to stay abreast of changing trends in our culture, and that’s me (at least I try!)
Favorite TV Shows? So You Think You Can Dance!! (I’m all about the 2 step) Also, Heroes…
Favorite Movies? So there are 3 different types: The more serious, abstract indie films that are often outside of mainstream viewer’s liking such as Towel Head, The Fall, Clockwork Orange, etc. Second, I love period pieces based on any storylines that fall at least a century in the past (i.e., Pride and Prejudice, Brideshead Revisted, Elizabeth, Sweeney Todd etc.) Lastly, I’m big on mystical storylines, so any movies with magic, demons, vampires, sorcerers, witches, goblins, ogres, hidden lands, etc. Kind of a kid in that way, I guess.
Favorite Music/musicians? Music: I listen to everything from classical to hip-hop to Spanish even. Musicians are really hard for me to identify as favorites - most of them are so different that comparing them becomes like apples to oranges. In regards to vocalists, people like Andrea Bocelli, Beyonce, Donny Hathaway, Stevie Wonder, even as old as Billy Holiday and Etta James. When it comes to full-out performers who dance and put on a show, Janet Jackson is probably my favorite, closely followed by Justin Timberlake and Beyonce.
Hero/Heroine? I usually tend to appreciate the underdogs and those misunderstood… there are too many to name and people might think I’m weird, so I’ll just leave it at that!
Favorite Social Media Tool, and why? I would definitely say Boogiezone.com. I’m a dancer, and it’s a dance community website where I get to network with people around the world who share the same passion.
Favorite Book? This is EXTREMELY hard. I’m not even trying to seem like an over-achiever when I say that I read about 2 books a month! My favorites most recently are probably “The Perks of Being a Wallflower”, “Water for Elephants”, and “The Notebook.” I’m in the midst of reading “Twilight” after all this movie hype. It’s a teen book which isn’t my usual genre’ but we’ll see how it goes…
How much time do you spend on social media over the weekend? Probably too much! I’d say at least 3-4 hours a day…
