So here it is, the big 2-oh, Number 20 in Reprise Media’s continuing series of profiles on the men and women that excel everyday for our clients. And then there’s Sean McDonald. Hah, kidding! McDonald is a globetrotting citizen of the world, a man of refined tastes with a kung-fu action grip. Sean has recently returned from a visit to his beloved Amsterdam where the ban on tobacco smoking in the cafes has him perplexed. What else causes wonderment in such a complex individual? Read on:
1. Where are you From?
Born in Bethesda MD, grew up in South Florida and the SF Bay area, lived in Colorado and Amsterdam most of my adult life until I moved to NYC in 2006
2. Favorite Website?
ESPN (Bill Simmons), BrooklynVegan.com, Hollywood-Elsewhere, Gizmodo, denverpost.com/avalanche
3. Great moments in Reprise History?
They are still being created.
4. Reprise Job Related Tip?
Good headphones! In-ear quality ones (Shure SE310 Sound Isolating Earphones are a start). Not only do they block out noise when you are working (and make your co-workers yell at you), but as an added bonus, other people cannot hear your music. Huge pet peeve of mine, hearing the ting-ting-ting of other’s music through low-grade (ie: Apple iPod) headphones.
5. Which Search Engine Would You Be and Why?
Dogpile. When I Ebay, I usually give a percentage to the ASPCA. I love the animals.
6. Favorite TV Shows?
Lost, Venture Brothers, Anthony Bourdain, Hockey, Daily Show
7. Favorite Movies?
Annie Hall, 2001, the Cary Grant triumvirate (North by Northwest, Bringing up Baby & Philadelphia Story), Aliens, Citizen Kane, Third Man . I really can go on and on about this subject.
8. Favorite Music/musicians?
Flaming Lips, Radiohead, Chemical Brothers, Tool, Jane’s Addiction … when it comes down to it, just a Coachella greatest hits
9. Hero/Heroine?
Lame, but none…
10. Favorite Social Media Tool, and why?
Twitter. Some people do it right and really use those characters to make magic (e.g. johnroderick)
11. Favorite Book?
Kavalier & Clay. Done and done.
12. How much time do you spend on social media over the weekend?
Ebbs and Flows. Sometimes 5 minutes, sometimes 6 minutes.
